Grants and Fellowships
Approximately 30% of first-year students receive a merit-based fellowship. Application for these funds are made through the admissions application. We strongly encourage fellowship applications from all students. Besides financial need and merit, criteria for selection of awards may also include personal background, academic and extracurricular achievement, leadership, community involvement, interpersonal skills, integrity, and honesty. All applications are reviewed by the Fellowship Committee to identify and select the best recipients.
Other fellowships and assistantships are available for second-year students who apply during their first year. These include Leadership Fellowships, Admissions Graduate Assistantships, and Omnicom Communications Fellowships. Joseph Wharton Fellowship
The Joseph Wharton Fellowship is named in honor of Joseph Wharton, the founder of the Wharton School. These grants range from $5,000 to $20,000.
Howard E. Mitchell Fellowships
The Howard E. Mitchell Fellowship (HEM) is a full tuition award for exception students from under-represented backgrounds. The Fellowship was established in honor of Howard E. Mitchell, the first tenured African-American professor at Wharton and the founder and director of the Wharton Human Resources Center. Each year a cohort of students will receive full-tuition, engage in leadership programming and join a large network of other Mitchell Fellows and alumni.

Emerging Economy Fellowship
These $20,000 fellowships are offered to students from emerging economies throughout the world. These awards help to support the financial costs of the MBA for students from regions where repayment of large loans would be difficult.
Forte Fellowship
These $20,000 fellowships are offered to outstanding female students who show potential for business leadership or ownership. Candidates should demonstrate exemplary leadership in one or more ways: academic leadership; team leadership; community leadership; creative leadership.
Henry Ralph Ringe Fellowship
The Ringe Fellowship was established in 1959 as a bequest from Henry Ralph Ringe. The $10,000 fellowship is awarded to a Mexican citizen. An applicant must be a Mexican citizen. United States permanent residents and students who will become permanent residents during the MBA program are not eligible. Students who are dual citizens of Mexico and the United States are not eligible.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Fellowship
A full-tuition fellowship offered by the Foundation, established in 2007 by his Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai. The Foundation invests in knowledge and human development of youth in the GCC/Middle East while focusing on research, education and the promotion of equal opportunities for personal growth and success.
