The LEAD Program at Wharton

The Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Program at Wharton engages youth of diverse backgrounds in the world of business.

Founded at Wharton in 1980 by Harold Haskins and Bill Whitney, the three-week LEAD Program hosts 30 bright and accomplished students from across the nation on the University of Pennsylvania campus.

The LEAD Program at Wharton will be held June 28 – July 18, 2020.

All classroom activities for the LEAD Program at Wharton are held in Jon M. Huntsman Hall, one of the most sophisticated, large-scale instructional centers of any educational institution in the world. Participants in the LEAD Program at Wharton:

  • Attend lectures by distinguished Wharton School faculty and visiting corporate executives.
  • Engage in challenging team-based assignments.
  • Visit corporations and institutions in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and New York City.

Corporate site visits allow students to apply their learning in the context of the business environment and to meet rising and senior executives. Recent corporate site visits include McNeil Consumer Healthcare, American Express, Morgan Stanley,  FCB, FDIC, Google, Sneaker Villa, Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and World Bank.

LEADers also participate in numerous social activities throughout the program, including concerts, cultural tours, a community service project, and team building programs.
