Statistics Prof. Tony Cai Receives 2008 COPSS Presidents' Award
August 12, 2008 -- The Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies (COPSS) has named Prof. Tony Cai the recipient of its 2008 COPSS Presidents' Award. Bestowed upon a person under the age of 40 for outstanding contributions to statistics, the COPSS Presidents' Award is one of the highest honors in statistics. COPSS activities include coordination of statistical meetings, the preparation of material to inform students about statistics, the sponsoring of lecture series and prizes, and the production of statistical directories. The COPSS Presidents’ Award was first given in 1981 to Peter J. Bickel of the University of California, Berkeley.
