The Wharton School Announces Multimillion Dollar Gift from Anil Dhirubhai Ambani to Name Auditorium in Jon M. Huntsman Hall

Philadelphia, Pa., May 14, 2007 – The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania announced a multimillion gift from Anil Dhirubhai Ambani, WG’83, chairman of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, to name the 300-seat, state-of-the-art auditorium in Jon M. Huntsman Hall. The auditorium will be named the Dhirubhai Ambani Auditorium, in honor of Mr. Ambani’s father.

“We are deeply grateful for this outstanding gift and are proud to name this prominent facility for Dhirubhai Ambani,” stated Wharton Dean Patrick Harker. “He was a true pioneer in the development of the Indian economy, opening opportunity to thousands of his fellow citizens through his then-innovative public stock offerings. We are honored to have this outstanding opportunity to pay lasting tribute to Mr. Ambani and the companies he built, and the important role he played in India's economic growth, and we are grateful to his son Anil for choosing to remember him in this meaningful way.”

The auditorium is being named in honor of Dhirubhai Ambani, the father of the chairman of Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group, Anil Ambani. Dhirubhai Ambani was awarded the prestigious Dean’s Medal from the Wharton School in 1998. As the 24th recipient of this honor, Ambani was recognized for his work as chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, and for his role in revolutionizing the concept of investing in India through the creation of wealth and value for millions of shareholders. Anil Ambani received his MBA from Wharton in 1983 and currently serves as a member of the Board of Overseers.
