The Wharton School and IRRC Deliver Corporate Takeover Data via the Web
December 2002 — The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Investor Responsibility Research Center, Inc. (IRRC) announce that Wharton Research Data Services (WRDS) now includes IRRC's Takeover Defenses Database - a comprehensive database on corporate takeover defenses developed by faculty at the Wharton School and Harvard University and researchers at IRRC. By making these data available through Wharton's WRDS service, researchers at educational institutions around the world will be able to use a Web-based system to identify companies that have poison pills, anti-greenmail, classified boards, golden parachutes, and other devices that are designed to prevent hostile takeovers and weaken shareholder rights.

University of Pennsylvania Announces New Dual Degree for Biotechnology Management
October 2002 — The University of Pennsylvania announced the creation of a new dual degree program in business and biotechnology. Students will earn an MBA from the Wharton School and a Master's of Biotechnology. The Biotechnology Master's is jointly offered by Penn's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and its School of Arts and Sciences.

February 2002 — The Wharton Business Plan Competition, now in its fourth year, has added Johnson & Johnson and Business 2.0 magazine as sponsors, it announced. Johnson & Johnson joins as a Silver Level sponsor. Company executives will participate as mentors to several student teams. At the same time, Business 2.0, a magazine about insight, tools and advantage in business and an AOL Time Warner property, becomes a Media Sponsor providing marketing support services. Ned Desmond, editor and president of Business 2.0 will also assume a judging role.
