      Prof. Jeremy Siegel Authors The Future for Investors
      Finance professor Jeremy Siegel's newest book, The Future for Investors, reveals new strategies to take advantage of the dramatic changes and opportunities that will appear in world markets in the future. Siegel has taken an in-depth look at stock market history and at the stocks that can help investors build long-term wealth. His surprising finding: new technologies, expanding industries, and fast-growing countries often lead to poor returns. The Future for Investors

      Jon Huntsman Book to be Released by Wharton School Publishing
      Wharton School Publishing will soon publish a book by alumnus Jon M. Huntsman, W'59, titled Winners Never Cheat: Everyday Values We Learned as Children (But May Have Forgotten). The book, which will be released in April with a forward by Larry King, argues that business success can go hand-in-hand with honesty, integrity, and high moral values. Huntsman advises readers to act on what they know is right — and to build teams with the same courage. He addresses how to listen to your moral compass, build teams with the highest values, share your successes, and reap the rewards of giving back. visit WSP website

      Sports Business Initiative Established at Wharton School
      The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania has announced the establishment of the Wharton Sports Business Initiative (WSBI). The initiative will form a partnership among top level business leaders, faculty, and students to generate and disseminate knowledge about the sports industry through educational programs, strategic corporate partnerships, student consulting assignments, global forums, and research. From internships to executive education, this initiative will serve as the center for all sports business-related activities associated with the Wharton School. read news release

      Undergrads Learn Business Etiquette
      Wharton undergrads will have an opportunity on March 14 and 15 to take lessons in business etiquette at the noted Philadelphia restaurant Lacroix at the Rittenhouse Hotel. The restaurant's general manager and sommelier will conduct the sessions, which will cover such topics as common French food terms, foods to avoid at business luncheons and dinners, table etiquette, and how to choose and taste wine.

      Wharton West MBA for Executives Students Raise Money for Public Radio
      Wharton West students, alumni, and staff volunteered in January to answer phones for a KQED radio pledge drive. During their 4-hour shift, they raised $26,000 for public radio. As a trade-off for their time, KQED made announcements throughout the event to raise awareness of the annual Wharton West Leadership Conference. In addition, as an incentive gift for pledges, Wharton School Publishing contributed copies of Lasting Leadership: What You Can Learn From the Top 25 Business People of Our Times, by Knowledge@Wharton editors Mukul Pandya and Robbie Shell. read more about Wharton West

      GIP to Send MBA Students to Southeast Asia
      For the first time in years, MBA students will head to Southeast Asia this spring as part of the Global Immersion Program (GIP). The program is designed to expose students to a region rebounding from economic crisis and reclaiming its spot as an important global market. The 35 students will visit Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore. Students will study the region's economic cycles, investment climate, and domestic reforms, as well as the effect of the so-called "China Factor."

      Wharton West Hosts Seminar for Business Journalists
      Business reporting gets more complicated - and more essential - every day. Even for veteran journalists, there's no better time to polish your reporting skills or learn some new ones. Wharton is joining with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and the National Press Foundation to offer a business journalism seminar on March 28 at Wharton West, the School's facility in San Francisco. Reporters are registered to attend from publications and broadcast outlets such as the San Jose Mercury News, Business 2.0, Financial Times, San Francisco Weekly, Wired, and KQED. visit the National Press Foundation website

      West Coast Students, Alumni, and Faculty Gather for Entrepreneurship Event
      The Wharton West Entrepreneurship Club and the Wharton Club of Northern California co-hosted a distinguished panel of Silicon Valley investors and entrepreneurs for a discussion of whether this is the year that startups and venture capital will come roaring back. The Feb. 10 event brought together entrepreneurially minded students, faculty, and alumni from all four MBA for Executives Wharton West classes. Panelists included Navin Chaddha, general partner of Gabriel Ventures; Mark Jacobstein, president and COO of Digital Chocolate; Alexander Lloyd, WG'97, venture partner of Rustic Canyon Ventures; Cynthia B.       Wharton Women Host Dollar Diva Event
      Wharton Women, an undergraduate student organization, held a one-day financial conference at Penn for girls aged 12-18 from inner city Philadelphia schools. The event called, "Dollar Diva", addressed how to make and manage money. The girls who attended the Feb. 26 conference are affiliated with groups such as the School District of Philadelphia and the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania. About 30 Wharton Women members will act as mentors for the girls. visit website

      Winners of Shils-Zeidman Fellowships in Entrepreneurship
      Announced

      Eleven Wharton undergraduates and MBA students — from such diverse locations as Israel, Nigeria, and the Bronx — won $6,000 awards from the Shils-Zeidman Fellowships in Entrepreneurship. The award was co-founded by the late Prof. Edward B. Shils, as one of his many acts of generosity and dedication to students. Administered by Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs, the endowment supports African-American, African, and Israeli students at Wharton. The award winners all demonstrated academic merit and a strong entrepreneurial spirit to the selection committee. Students selected are Christopher Amos, Nir Bar-Lev, Lydia Cutrer, Dor Golan, Nakeyshia Kendall, Thomas Kouadio, Sekou Murphy, Olufemi Ogunseinde, Dadie Tayoraud, Brian Turpin, and John Weaver. visit Entrepreneurial Programs Awards and Fellowships website
