      Celebrate Wharton's 125th Anniversary
In 1881, American entrepreneur and industrialist Joseph Wharton had the most radical idea in the history of business: the establishment of the world’s first collegiate school of business at the University of Pennsylvania.

No other single idea — and no single institution — has had such a dramatic, transformational effect on the way business is conducted in the global market.

Starting in January 2006, Wharton will begin a 16-month celebration of its founding — and the origin of collegiate business education in the world. Wharton 125, the anniversary celebrations, will launch with three major events: the Global Alumni Forum in Mumbai on January 5-7; a kick-off event on campus on January 18; and the Wharton Economic Summit in New York City on February 1. Events in more than 20 cities across the globe have already been planned

Celebrate Wharton’s innovations, its leadership in business thought and practice, and the people who make it happen. Visit the Wharton 125 website for information on events and the history of the School.

Business education started right here. First.
