Keeping an Ear to the Ground The Wharton/SAIS Dual-Degree Program
Business at the Wharton/SAIS dual-degree program crosses borders regional politics, economics, and social issues prepare the students for business that spans global interests.
Students in this intensive three-year program spend three semesters at Wharton and three semesters at Johns Hopkins' Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington, DC to earn both an MBA and an MA in International Relations.
“Wharton/SAIS students are equipped to analyze political developments, World Bank issues, and good places to go to start new businesses,” explained Aileen Rollins, Wharton's MBA dual-degree program coordinator. “These students really have their ears to the ground.”
Students combine the study of political and economic decision making with the most advanced approaches to finance, marketing, management, accounting, and strategic planning. The program includes a focus on regional development and economics and demands proficiency in a foreign language. Students learn to structure, analyze, and resolve problems in the international arena going beyond traditional solutions.
"The Wharton/SAIS dual-degree program has provided me with both business tools and a comprehensive perspective on the world political economy," says Brenda Thickett, management consultant at Boston Consulting and a member of the Wharton/SAIS Class of 2000. "Throughout the program, I had the opportunity to make friends with some of the most interesting people I have known in my life. They have a breadth of experience and depth of understanding in both the commercial and policy realms."
