Wharton's Doctoral Programs are among the three largest and most selective programs in the country. The programs have been developed to train highly qualified candidates in applying advanced intellectual disciplines and techniques to the problems of business and government. Doctoral programs of study include Accounting, Applied Economics, Ethics & Legal Studies, Finance, Health Care Management & Economics, Management, Marketing, Operations & Information Management, and Statistics.
Wharton also offers the opportunity for interdisciplinary doctoral study, as many students take courses in multiple departments. In addition, Wharton offers an Interdisciplinary Program in Decision Processes. Doctoral fellows in this program obtain a strong theoretical background and applied orientation toward the study of behavior of individuals, firms, and policymakers in the face of uncertainty or conflicting values. Departments involved include Operations & Information Management, Health Care Systems, Insurance & Risk Management, Business & Public Policy, and Psychology.
