How learning teams create a strong community and enhance Wharton's collaborative culture

Wharton's innovative, involved, and open culture creates partnerships among students, alumni, faculty, and administration by seeking high involvement in every aspect of their educational and professional lives. Wharton's cohort system, learning teams, and leadership activities build close connections among classmates, leading many alumni to return to campus for reunions, conferences, and lecture series. Thousands of others are accessible through WAVE, the online community and database that keep alumni connected. Wharton alumni continue to build relationships through executive education, networking events, campus recruiting, and corporate partnerships with the School.

Worldwide Alumni Involvement
The Wharton Network
In this 2002 Special Report, read about alumni connections that cross industries and borders.

Wharton's strength is its people. With more than 77,000 members, Wharton alumni participate in 79 alumni clubs, in 139 countries, and on six continents. Wharton partners with its alumni clubs to hold Global Alumni Forums annually around the world. These events give alumni opportunities to create new connections while networking and learning about issues of global economic importance from Wharton faculty. In recent years, Wharton has strengthened this network by holding 50 Wharton Connect events across four continents and establishing new services for graduates, including an Alumni Mentoring Program and CareerConnect.

Alumni Support
Wharton alumni continue to support the School long after they have their degrees in hand. This community of leaders strengthens Wharton with their breadth of experience and knowledge, as well as with their financial and collaborative contributions. In 2003 Wharton completed the largest fundraising campaign by any business school, exceeding its goal and raising $445 million for improved facilities, MBA and undergrad scholarships, faculty endowments, new research centers, and more. In addition to the participation of 23,161 donors in the campaign, a record 98 percent of the MBA Class of 2003 gave nearly half a million dollars to The Wharton Fund, showing the commitment of the newest generation of Wharton alumni.
