Michelle Giraldo, WG'06
“I was at an earlier point in my career than many of the people in my program, and I wanted a way to advance my career by building a solid academic financial background. Prudential has had a long history of supporting educational programs. When I approached my manager about an executive MBA, I received enthusiastic support. My job responsibilities certainly did not getany lighter, but I took responsibility for what needed to get done even when I was away for the weekend. It was important to remain mindful of your colleagues and show them that you were still committed to them as well.”

EMBA Fellows Sponsorship
Full financial sponsorship is required for all fellows, who are candidates with less than 8 years of work experience and/or are under the age of 30. Organizations nominate fellows candidates because of their outstanding promise for advancement in a managerial career.
Letter of nomination (required). The sponsoring organization must submit a formal letter of nomination on company letterhead. The letter of nomination must:
- Explain the exceptional managerial potential of this candidate; and
- Confirm a commitment of full financial and program-related support and an understanding of the time requirements of the program for class attendance and study.
Full financial support (required). The sponsor's letter of nomination must confirm a commitment of full financial and program-related support. (Applicants and sponsors may contact us in Philadelphia or San Francisco to review special circumstances that would influence these support requirements.)
Career development plan (highly recommended as supporting documentation for your admission application). The more thought put into how a candidate's experience at Wharton fits into a career development plan back at work, the greater the benefits for both applicant and sponsor. Such a plan frames how earning the Wharton MBA can lead to broadened responsibilities and opportunities within the firm. Sponsors and students who stay in regular communication about the program use the experience not only to advance personal skills and knowledge, but also to address specific challenges at the office.
Interview (required). Fellows candidates are required to come for an interview as part of the application process. Make your appointment right away, even before beginning or completing your application. For more information, see Interviews.
