Prior to Wharton, I was a Global Commercial Leader, working for Johnson & Johnson in strategic marketing. I had held a number of positions within sales, marketing, and new product planning in pharmaceuticals. I changed jobs mid-way through my Wharton MBA, and my decision to move to a smaller company was partially driven by what I was learning at Wharton. Being at Wharton changed me – pushed me to go in a different direction and consider options that I may not have been open to before. Since graduating from Wharton, I have changed jobs and have taken a marketing position at a small diagnostics company. I do feel that I have more opportunities and career choices thanks to Wharton. Not only because I have more confidence in my own skills and abilities, but also because of the credibility and skills, as well as the network, that the Wharton MBA affords its alumni.
Looking to challenge limits
I had always wanted to get my MBA, but I didn't want to do it just for the sake of doing it. I was looking for a program that would stretch me and challenge my limits. I didn't want to lose momentum in my career, either. I knew that an executive program would give me the flexibility to continue to work while earning my MBA.
Ready to take the leap
I can honestly say that being at Wharton has boosted my confidence in my ability to tackle new challenges. I am confident that my MBA skills will continue to make me a more innovative, productive and well-rounded leader and manager. I love that the Wharton program really pushed me to think outside the box and challenge myself in new ways.
On self-sponsorship
I was self-sponsored. To me, it was completely worth it to pay for school, and I am happy that my new employers value what I am doing and are encouraging me to complete the program. I know that Wharton will help me make the most of my career and that I will continue to apply what I am learning to the challenges that I face in the workplace.
The Wharton network
I'm honored to be part of the Wharton network. I've found that Wharton alumni are very open and accessible. I know other people who have reevaluated their careers during the program, and the Wharton connections have helped them to explore and tap into new opportunities. It's like a secret password — a real bond that holds us together.
