Student Perspective

SF California EMBA School
Sally Bao, WG'05

“Balancing family, work, and school was challenging for me. As a single mom I had to survive by being organized. It was a huge investment of time and resources, but even with many commitments, I made it work and even had fun. At Wharton, there is a constant stream of activities ranging from baseball outings to casino nights. In addition, there are informal social gatherings after class with other students. Students here have great character and drive — these are people you want to learn from and be with. The friendships I've made here have been invaluable.”

Student Reflections

The Wharton MBA is about the journey as much as the destination. Hear about the experience of executive MBA students at home, at school, and in between.

Laurent Gil, WG'03, thinks the Wharton MBA Program for Executives has some of the best professors and most interesting classes in the world. So interesting, in fact, that he flew nine hours to Philadelphia from Brazil every other week to attend them. Find out what Gil and others think about the learning experience.

It's 6:45 p.m. on a Friday night in San Francisco. As the sun sets over the Bay Bridge, office workers slowly make their way home. But for the Wharton West students heading to dinner with their fellow executives, there's no commute, no symbolic end of the week — just the feeling of anticipation and excitement for what's ahead.

Holding down a full-time job and attending business school while making time for family and friends can be daunting even for the most adept schedule jugglers. Bob and Gladys Gabriel know first-hand how challenging (and rewarding) that balancing act can be: the couple and their four young sons have been through the Wharton experience not once but twice.
