Typical Weekend EMBA Schedule

You will experience the energy of this vibrant and diverse community both in and out of the classroom, from learning teams and study groups to lunch meetings with faculty and executive speakers. Take a look at this sample two-day schedule, which reflects a typcial weekend in the program.

Friday

9:00 – 9:30 a.m.
Check In — The lobby is filled with activity as students arrive and park their luggage before class begins.

9:30 – 12:30 p.m.
Marketing Strategy — Students begin their first course of the day as Marketing Professor Eric Bradlow, a leading marketing statistician and winner of several Wharton teaching awards, discusses statistical models to answer product assortment issues.

12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Lunch — Executive speaker David Pottruck, WG'72, former president and CEO of Charles Schwab Corp., meets with students to discuss leadership, integrity, and corporate responsibility in a conference connecting the Wharton's east and west campuses.

1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Foundations of Leadership — Management Professor Michael Useem, director of the Wharton Center for Leadership and Change Management, explores the leadership lessons of Apollo 13.

4:45 – 7:00 p.m.
Management Communication — Students work with communications faculty from Wharton's Management Department to improve their presentation skills.

7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Dinner — Students meet for an informal dinner.

8:00 p.m.
Evening Activities — Students study or work on group projects in case study lounges, and then some go out to explore the cities of Philadelphia and San Francisco. Read more about the student experience in Learning Outside of the Classroom.

Saturday

7:30 – 9:00 a.m.
Breakfast — Students make their way to the dining facility. Some stop first at the fitness center or for a morning run outdoors.

9:00 – 12:00 p.m.
Operations Management — Morris Cohen, Professor of Operations and Information Management and consultant for a wide range of industries and organizations, examines global manufacturing and sourcing strategies.

12:00 – 1:00 p.m.
Lunch — Students continue their discussions with faculty during lunch.

1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Financial Analysis — Adjunct Professor John Percival, winner of several teaching awards, explains discounted cash flow techniques.

4:00 p.m.
Weekend Concludes — Students grab their bags and return home, continuing to work on coursework and collaborate on projects with their study teams by phone and e-mail. See Wired for Interaction.
