About Penn
Wharton is part of the University of Pennsylvania (Penn), America's first university and a member of the Ivy League. Penn is recognized globally for the caliber of its undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools, and its leadership in disciplines from accounting to veterinary science, archeology to urban design.
Founded and chartered in the 18th century, Penn has a legacy of educational innovation that includes America's first medical school, first collegiate business school, first university teaching hospital, first journalism program, and first modern liberal arts curriculum.
Penn's campus resources extend from a state-of-the-art fitness center (donated by Wharton alumnus David Pottruck), which is across the street from Wharton's Huntsman Hall, to a library system with more than 5 million books, to a 269-acre campus with countless educational, recreational, and cultural opportunities.
Wharton is one of Penn's 12 graduate and professional schools. The university offers leading programs in law, medicine, and engineering, among others, which support cross-disciplinary research and collaboration among faculty and students.
Office of Student Disabilities Services
The University of Pennsylvania is committed to providing equal educational opportunities for all students, including students with disabilities. The Office of Student Disabilities Services (SDS) serves students from all of Penn's undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools.
It provides comprehensive, professional services and programs for students with disabilities to ensure equal academic opportunities and participation in University-sponsored programs. See the Office of Student Disabilities Services for additional information and resources.
Campus Safety and Security
Students at Wharton have safety concerns similar to those of students in any major city. Wharton operates under the careful eye of the Division of Public Safety at the University of Pennsylvania, which is committed to enhancing the quality of life of the campus community and operates a fully commissioned police force with state-of-the-art safety and security technology. In 2003, Penn was one of two institutions of higher education selected to receive the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Award in recognition of its innovative technology and campus and community patrols.
