“One of my most formative experiences at Wharton was listening to an Executive Speaker Series lecture by the co-founders of Nextel. I was struck by their story of committing to their endeavors despite the obstacles. Their stories inspired me to commit to stay the course on building my own business, regardless of the obstacles I may encounter.”

“The Executive Speaker Series introduced me to a new career path. James Clippard, the VP of Investor Relations for Federal Express, spoke to our class and taught me about a field that I ultimately decided to pursue. It was a very valuable experience for me — one I hope to convert into a successful career.”

Wharton's strong connections with businesses, governments, and public policy organizations give you frequent opportunities to hear directly from the world's business leaders. In addition to presentations on campus, faculty also bring executives into the classroom, providing real-time context and discussion around the management issues facing business leaders and key figures in organizations in all parts of the world.
Speakers on Campus
Throughout the year, leaders from business and government make the trip to Wharton's campuses in Philadelphia and San Francisco to talk "off the record" with students in the MBA Program for Executives. Some are invited through the student-run Executive Speaker Series; others are guest speakers taking part in individual classes or special lunch-time venues. Each speaker presents a rare opportunity to hear, and ask questions, about companies and countries that are influencing business and world affairs.
With Wharton's conferencing capabilities, these opportunities are multiplied — so students in Philadelphia don't miss out when someone like David Pottruck, former president and CEO of Charles Schwab, meets with students in San Francisco.
Recent speakers include:
former CEO, The Vanguard Group
Vice Chairperson, Truth and Reconciliation Commission, Republic of South Africa
former CEO, United Airlines
Senior VP, Integrated Operations, IBM (pictured above)
Executive VP, Worldwide Marketing and Product Development, Adobe
CTO and VP, Sun Microsystems
former President and CEO, Charles Schwab
EO, Juniper Financial
President and CEO, eBay
