“The most fascinating exploration came during our International Seminar, as I had never been to Asia before. On our trip to Shanghai (followed by a personal trip to Beijing), a whole new continent, culture and national history were opened up to me. The experience was simply irreplaceable.”

“Our class trip to London was terrific. We were able to see many different perspectives, and we met with senior people from organizations like UPS, BC Partners Private Equity, Lloyds, Citigroup, and J&J. All of the student projects and presentations related to the trip were top notch, too. I've done a lot of international business, but being with this group of people and learning about different industries in the context of their global strategic issues and markets was enlightening.”

Wharton's commitment to global engagement prepares you for every challenge in the international business environment. Through Wharton's global alumni network and close affiliations around the world, you will have the opportunity to meet and talk with an exceptional group of leaders in business and government. The International Seminar offers you an inside view not only of individual companies and industries, but also of the broader economic, political, social, and cultural factors that influence business opportunities and practice in that region.
The required seminar marks the culmination of a semester-long examination into how business firms develop and implement strategy in a competitive global context. It follows the two-course core sequence, Competitive Strategy and Global Strategic Management.
Through a volunteer committee, you will have the chance to work with fellow students and faculty to select the destination, and then work with other students to research and plan the intensive week of corporate visits.
Following the trip, students apply the insights gained from both their coursework and the International Seminar in team projects and papers. Many use this as an opportunity to analyze strategic opportunities and challenges facing their own organizations or industries.
