We encourage you to explore all possible outside funding sources, including those from countries of citizenship, religious and/or fraternal organizations, clubs, athletics, veterans groups, ethnic groups, unions, employers, and charitable foundations. We have provided a sampling of these external awards and links to a few search engines below.
Scholarships for Specific Populations
American Association of University Women – Academic grants provide support for course work beyond a bachelor's degree, including a master's degree, second bachelor's degree, or specialized training in technical or professional fields.
Bureau of Indian Affairs – Offers fellowship grants to graduate students at accredited U.S. schools who can demonstrate financial need and are enrolled members of a federally recognized American Indian tribe or Alaskan Native group or possess one-fourth degree federally recognized Indian blood.
Fulbright Scholarships – Awards are available for U.S. and non-U.S. students who aim to increase mutual understanding between the peoples of the United States and other countries, through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills.
Fundação Estudar – A Brazilian private institution that grants scholarships to Brazilian business students. The scholarships vary from $3,000 to $30,000 on a need and merit basis.
Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) – Designed to assist students of Hispanic heritage obtain advanced degrees.
Instituto Ling Scholarship Program – Annual scholarship program for Brazilian citizens with entrepreneurial spirit and leadership skills to contribute to Brazilian economic and cultural development.
Jack Kent Cooke Foundation – Awards approximately 35 scholarships to college seniors or recent graduates to attend graduate programs.
National Society of Hispanic MBAs Scholarship Program – Provides financial assistance to outstanding Hispanics pursuing a Masters in Business Administration. The merit scholarships will be awarded on a competitive basis to full-time and part-time Master’s degree-seeking graduate students.
Onsi Sawiris Scholarship Program – Awarded based on character and merit as demonstrated through academic excellence, extracurricular activities, and entrepreneurian initiative. The scholarship include full tuition, a living allowance, travel, and health insurance.
Richard Metzler and Roland Berger Scholarships – Open to applicants pursuing an MBA degree who demonstrate academic excellence, strong leadership skills, and community service or related activities and who are interested in pursuing a career in management consultant. Information is available through the Association of Management Consulting Firms.
Native American Finance Officers Association (NAFAO) – Dedicated to supporting Native Americans pursuing their education towards a degree in any finance related field.
Sampoerna Foundation – Provides one scholarship to an Indonesian citizen to pursue a Master’s of Business Administration degree at leading university overseas. Upon completing the program, the scholarship recipient is required to return to Indonesia and endeavor to transfer his/her knowledge to his/her fellow citizens.
Thouron Award – Established in 1960, a graduate exchange program between British universities and the University of Pennsylvania. Conceived to reinforce the "special relationship" between the U.S. and the U.K., it sought to create an ever-growing number of leading citizens of these two countries who would have a thorough understanding of their trans-Atlantic counterparts. Today it is a leading international scholarship program and experience in friendship, with more than 700 alumni.
Toigo Fellowship – The only MBA graduate-level fellowship for minority professionals committed to careers in finance.
