Learning Lab team members Alec Lamon, Charles Rejonis, and Erin Wyher presented at the Adobe Max
2007 conference in Chicago, IL. The presentation, entitled “A Virtual Trading Floor: Bringing
Wall Street to the Classroom”, described the process of transforming WSX (Wharton Securities
Exchange) into a web-based rich Internet application.
The Learning Lab team detailed the developmental journey of WSX from its early beginnings as a client/server version to its present day existence as a rich internet application. Fueled by the expanding capabilities of ColdFusion, Flex, and Flex Data Services, WSX gained freedom from the client. This freedom ended the tribulations associated with client-based install and primed WSX for simple external adoption.
Implementing the latest versions of ColdFusion and Flex technologies ensured that WSX will remain an innovative learning tool to a new generation of students who are exposed to technological innovations on a daily basis.
