In VASE, students analyze different business scenarios to form optimal bidding strategies for different types of auctions. VASE can be used in either single- or multi-player mode, allowing students to try their hand against the computer before they face off against each other. The faculty member can set up a single player auction with up to twelve 'bots' to compete against the human player. Each 'bot' is assigned strategic parameters that affect the way it plays in a particular auction. Once a single-player auction is completed, the student is given feedback regarding his or her bidding strategy.

Not only can students act as buyers, but faculty members can designate a student as a 'seller' to demonstrate the types of decisions that need to be made when you're using a particular type of auction to sell a product or service.

In addition, VASE has a complete set of administrative tools to manage auctions, users, and groups, as well as the bid and clearing history of any auction. VASE can also export auction and bid history data to a spreadsheet for further analysis.
