Virtual Auction Simulation Engine

Faculty Author:  Ravi Aron

Students participate in a variety of auctions and learn how each can be used as a strategic pricing tool

VASE comes with a rich set of administrative tools. This tool set allows faculty and administrators to manage auctions, users, and groups, as well as the bid and clearing history of any of their auctions. Some highlights:

  • Auction creation - In addition to standard settings such as opening call, quantities available and bid increments, VASE allows complete control of parameters like automation, intimation, willingness-to-pay assignments, and discrimination.
  • Auction management - Gives a faculty member the ability to edit, delete and/or archive cleared auctions.
  • User management - These tools are used to create and remove users, assign users to auctions and even assign the role of 'seller' to individual students for an auction.
  • Group management - These features give fine-grained control over groups, such as adding students to groups and assigning groups/sub-groups to auctions.
