About Production Line Analyzing Tool
Using the Production Line Analyzing Tool (PLAnT), students control a cell-phone factory production line. By making decisions about batch size and the number of workers per station, students can see how such variables impact product flow, the total number of units produced, and overhead costs. PLAnT provides an animated interface that shows the production line in real time, allowing participants to identify workflow problems as they occur. In addition, PLAnT introduces real-world complexity by adding different models to the assembly line and by simulating defective units along with their associated rework costs.
