Student teams representing General Electric and Westinghouse engage in a bidding competition for a series of contracts

power play screen shot Power Play focuses on the strategy behind competing for and winning contracts in a competitive bid process. Students assume the roles of General Electric and Westinghouse in an all-out bidding competition for a series of procurement contracts.

The application facilitates multiple rounds of bidding and quickly returns the results to participants.

Each contract has a two-bid cycle; during the first round, students bid and then get real-time feedback on whether their bid was high or low compared to their competition. They must then make a decision on their final bid based on their private information about production costs and the feedback from their initial bid. Each round takes them through the complex process of trying to win contracts and make profits in an environment lacking clarity regarding the competition's bottom line or motives.
