Networking
Networking in academic environments is not new, but the built-in connectivity of Jon M. Huntsman Hall takes it to the next level. Designed to be pervasive and forward-compatible, technology in Huntsman Hall includes classrooms wired for multimedia and broadband audio and video conferencing, connectivity between group work stations and study rooms, and Internet access using Internet2, the next-generation academic Internet with television-size bandwidth.
The connectivity hooks into the power of SPIKE, the Wharton School's award-winning enterprise information portal. Now in its seventh generation, SPIKE incorporates mobile, wireless, and "information broadcasting" technologies and integrates extensive cross-media content publishing and personalization features. Its popular WebCafé offers "virtual rooms" for courses in which faculty and students can discuss and vote on topics of interest; share and search for documents; and collaborate on coursework projects over the Web.
