Areas of research currently include: Pricing Pharmaceuticals: A Global Perspective; Globalization of Managerial Innovation in Health Care; Financial Incentive-Based Approaches for Weight Loss; Market Entry and Exit by Biotech and Device Companies; Innovation in Medical Care and Insurance Markets; Health Effects of Medicare for Near Elderly Uninsured; Hospital Teaching Intensity, Patient Race and Surgical Outcomes; Utilization, Services and Performance of Hospital Purchasing Alliances; Hospital-Physician Collaboration; Structure and Performance of Hospital Systems; Obesity and Surgical Outcomes; Adverse Selection and Moral Hazard: Implications for Health Insurance Markets; and Issues of Biopharmaceutical Product Variety and Innovation.

Representative Publications

The Health Care Economics & Management PhD program is partially supported by the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics (LDI), whose purpose is to promote interdisciplinary education and research related to health care. Doctoral students are afforded many opportunities to work closely with LDI faculty on research grants and educational activities.
