Programs of Study

Wharton has nine distinct programs of study, each situated within a discrete academic department at the School. Your studies are centered in one of the programs, but need not be limited to the particular subject matter of the program. Interdisciplinary research across Wharton departments, and Penn's Schools, is broadly pursued by both faculty and students. See Programs.

Faculty & Research

Wharton's faculty is the largest, most published and most cited business faculty in the world. With 250+ faculty across 11 academic departments, Wharton provides the greatest scope of opportunity to doctoral students. See Faculty.

Degree Requirements

In general, you must complete at least 20 course units (up to four per term) for the PhD degree; you must complete at least 12 of these at the University of Pennsylvania. Your studies culminate in the production of the doctoral dissertation, which is an original research publication. See Degree Requirements & Policies.

Application Deadline

The Wharton Doctoral Programs only accepts students for full-time study beginning in the fall semester each year. Students applying to begin studies in fall 2008 must submit their online applications and send all of their supporting materials (letters of recommendation, grade transcripts, and either GMAT or GRE scores) to the Doctoral Programs Office for delivery no later than December 15, 2007. See Applying to Wharton.

Tuition & Financial Aid

All Wharton graduate students receive a full fellowship covering tuition expenses and providing a living stipend. See Expenses & Financial Aid.
