WEMBA Class Gift

Matthew Greene, WG'89

"The reason why I've given back is because I look at all the benefits that I received personally from going to the School and how I've utilized the alumni network around the world, and they've been very helpful to me. I would like to give back to the young alumni that are here now so that they can do the same."

— Matthew Greene, WG'89

The Wharton Fund

Wharton alumni classes have traditionally given gifts in honor of their reunions and in support of the School's strategic objectives. The Class Gift will go directly to support the School's annual fund for unrestricted giving. The Wharton Fund is the main vehicle through which alumni show their support for the School. Sustained support from our alumni sends a strong signal that you value your Wharton experience and would like that experience to continue for future generations of students.

Reunions are a wonderful opportunity to give back to your alma mater through your participation in your Reunion class gift campaign. All reunion classes give back to the School in the lead up to Reunion Weekend. All monies received are for unrestricted purposes and provide support for key areas within the School such as financial aid, fellowships, technological enhancements and teaching and research.

How your gift makes an impact

To attract the best students, the School must continue to offer the best education, the best faculty, cutting-edge technology, and world class research. The Wharton Fund finances these essential resources.

What is our Goal?

Our goal is 100% participation of the WEMBA classes. This campaign is less about money and more about the participation of our class. We ask you to think about what Wharton has meant to you and what it will mean to your future. How is your life different because of your Wharton experience?

OUR GOAL IS NOT MEASURED IN DOLLARS, BUT IN PARTICIPATION RATES!

Why is my participation in the Class Gift important?

Broad participation in the Class Gift is vitally important to Wharton for three major reasons:

1. Class gift participation rates send a strong message to the outside world about Wharton. It demonstrates that alumni value their Wharton experience and that Wharton is worthy of continued investment.

2. Your participation is an investment in the Wharton brand, a brand from which you will benefit for the remainder of your life.

3. This connects us as a class!

How can I maximize my donation?

Many companies match their employees' donations dollar-for-dollar. Company matches can increase your personal gift and the total class gift very quickly. Many companies offer a dollar-for-dollar match, and some offer a greater ration than 1:1. Refer to Penn's Matching Gifts Database for a full listing of matching companies, or call your company's HR office if you do not see their name on the list. This is very important, as some firms do not have a global match policy, but maintain policies that vary from office to office, so a call to the specific office where you work can make a big difference.

Is my donation to the Class Gift tax deductible?

Yes, payments to the Class Gift are fully tax deductible under US tax law at the time the payments are made.
