Class of WG’72 – Where are they now?


Larry Ach has been happily married to Susan (Sweedler) for 27 years. They first met at the Grad Towers. They have two great children and are active in their children's prep school, as well as in their synagogue. Larry's leisure activities include biking, swimming, scuba diving, and historical reading. He is presently Chief Financial Officer at Trianer Wortham in New York.

Stephen Allen currently serves as Director at AT&T in Bedminster, New Jersey. Stephen and his wife, Jane, reside in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

Scott Ambler and his wife, Robin (a Wake Forest graduate), have one daughter, Susan, and one son, Charlie. Susan is a junior at Harvard and Charlie is a freshman at Yale. Wharton's Graduate School may see one or both of them in a few years.

Antonio Andal is President of Bremenn Industries, Inc. in the Philippines.

Gilhoon Bae lives and works in Seoul, Korea, where he is President of Korea Delphi Automotive Systems Company, Ltd.

Frederick Ball is currently Vice President of the Bank of New York. Frederick and his wife, Linda, reside in Scarsdale, New York.

Peter Bassett lives and works in Weston, Massachusetts. He is President of Bristol Property Management, Inc.

Charles Bauer and his wife, E. Bowen Gerry, a Columbia graduate '72, live in Newport, Rhode Island. Their daughter, Elizabeth Sage is a graduate of Bucknell '01.

John Becica lives and works in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, where he is President of JB Distinctive Home Repair.

Robert Berley resides in Media, Pennsylvania and is a physician at the Health Care Center at Christiana in Newark, Delaware.

Gil Blake is the owner of Twenty Plus. He and his wife, Diane, reside in Weston, Massachusetts.

Louis Bowen is still living in Hong Kong after 24 years. He married Nancy Hernreich on January 1, 2001. He is currently managing ACL Asia Limited, a private equity/venture capital company based in Hong Kong.

Bruce Bradley is Director of Managed Care Plans for General Motors Corporation in Detroit, Michigan. Bruce and his wife, Shirley, reside in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.

After several years with major U.K. companies, Thomas Briggs decided to take the small company route. He now runs four small companies; the major one is in musical instrument retail. He is very active with several U.K. charities, including St. John Ambulance and the Warrington Youth Club. He is also actively involved with a political lobby group, trying to ensure that the U.K. does not join the euro—putting to use all he learned in BA806 (He thinks!). Thomas married Michelle, a primary school teacher, in 1984. They have a 16-year-old daughter, Amanda.

Anthony Brooke lives and works in London, England, where he is Director of Fauchier Partners, Ltd.

William Brown is President and CEO for 1838 Investment Advisors in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. He resides in Devon, Pennsylvania.

Robert Brudno is Managing Director at Savoy Partners, Ltd. He and his wife, Sheila, reside in Bethesda, Maryland.

Stephen Casper lives and works in New York City, where he is Chief Financial Officer at Fischer Francis Trees and Watts, Inc.

Peter Chapin retired in 1998 from Deutsche Bank Securities in Boston, Massachusetts, where he had been Managing Director. He is presently enjoying his retirement in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia.

Warren Chatmon lives and works in Marina, California, where he is Chairman and CEO of Warcann Mortgage Associates, LLC.

Edward Chez is Managing Partner for Shultz Chez and Jesser, CPAs in Chicago. He resides in Glencoe, Illinois.

Jack Clarey and his wife, Kathleen, reside in Northbrook, Illinois, where he is President of Clarey and Andrews, Inc.

Steve Co and his wife, Veronica, reside in Singapore, where he is Senior Vice President at Rabobank Asia, Ltd.

Dominic Colaizzo lives and works in Philadelphia, where he is Senior Vice President for AON Healthcare Alliance.

Ted Corwin is President and owner of Designmaster Furniture, Inc., which specializes in manufacturing dining furniture. In addition, he is Chairman of the United States Board of Food for the Hungry. He also serves as an elder of First Presbyterian Church in Hickory, North Carolina. Ted and his wife, Lucy, have four children: Lucy (18), Minnie (16), Doric (16), and Theodore III (7).

Donald Crumrine is Chairman of the Board for Flaherty and Crumine, Inc. in Pasadena, California. He resides in San Marino, California.

Ken Drossman is Senior Vice President and CFO of Vira Manufacturing, Inc. in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He and his fabulous partner and wife, Marilyn, have three terrific children: Zachary (18, Wharton Class of 2005—“Can you believe it?!”), Rachel (17, high school senior), and Tracy (16, high school sophomore).

Fred Drummond lives and works in Seattle, Washington, where he is a senior consultant at Boeing Company.

Charles Dubick lives in Beachwood, Ohio and is President of Midwest Food Equipment, Inc. in Cleveland.

Joseph Duckworth resides in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. He is a partner at Arcadia Land Company in Wayne, Pennsylvania.

Robert Eberhardt resides in Upper Montclair, New Jersey and is Managing Director at Alliance Mezzanine Investors in Verona.

Herbert Edson retired as Vice President and CFO of Byerly Hospital. He spent 20 years as a Marine Corps officer, 18 years in healthcare financial management, and 2 years in foundation financial management. William and Rose Anne, whom he married in 1970, have four children: Patricia Anne, David William, Merritt Austin III, and Herbert Robbins, Jr.

In 1993, John Edwards moved to Australia from the United Kingdom with PA Consulting. In 1998, he joined Ernst and Young Consulting (Australia). He currently works in Singapore, where he is CEO for Asia Pacific Telecom Consulting at CAP Gemini Ernst and Young. John and his wife, Chole, have three boys, ages 20, 23, and 25.

Mark Ellis is currently Managing Partner at 1 to 1 Venture Partners in Stamford, Connecticut. He resides in Warwick, New York.

Jeffrey Fast resides in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

Robert Fecitt resides in Carmel, Indiana and is a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company.

David Foster is a self-employed consultant and resides in Salem, Virginia.

Richard Garvey lives and works in Boston, Massachusetts. He is currently Executive Vice President for New Directions, Inc.

Alan Geoffrey is owner and President of Sign-A-Rama in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Richard Gies is currently Senior Vice President and CFO at Dupont Pharmaceuticals in Wilmington, Delaware. Richard and his wife, Diane, reside in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.

Robert Gittlin resides in Delray Beach, Florida, where he is Chief Executive Officer of JKG Group, Inc.

Philip Goldberg is President of Sanctuary of Fort Lauderdale, Inc. He has been able to use his financial experience in his volunteer work, which has included several opera company boards, university boards, and various 501(c)(3)s across the country.

John Grandin is Director of Major and Planned Gifts for the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in Boston.

After graduation, Andrew Halvorsen worked on Wall Street as a security analyst with H.C. Wainwright and Company. In 1998, he retired as Chief Executive Officer of Beneficial Corporation after the company was sold to Household International. Andrew spent 20 years at Beneficial, the last 12 as Chief Financial Officer and a member of the Board of Directors. Currently, Andrew is a private investor and is enjoying retirement from Beneficial in Summit, New Jersey.

Clay Hamlin is currently Chief Executive Officer of Corporate Office Properties Trust in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania. Clay and his wife, Lynn, reside in Haverford, Pennsylvania.

Bruce Harrison resides in Houston, Texas and is Chairman and CFO of Caldwell National Bank.

Stanton Healy is President and COO for Dogwatch, Inc. Stanton and his wife, Sarah, reside in Sudbury, Massachusetts.

Mark Hershhorn retired as CEO/President of National Media Corporation (1991-1997), a NYSE public company in the TV direct marketing business. Since 1998, Mark has been involved in the real estate industry, revitalizing and renovating old multi-dwelling apartment buildings. In addition, he is Vice Chairman of the Board of Overseers for the Rutgers University Foundation, Chairman of the Rutgers University Annual Fund, Chairman of the Rutgers University Scarlet R Club, and a board member for Carelift International and the National Museum of American Jewish History. Mark is an active golfer and sports enthusiast.

Stephen Hill is Director of Logistics Engineering for Menl Logistics in Redwood City, California. Stephen and his wife, Barbara, live in Cupertino, California.

Cornelius Hogan is currently a senior consultant for the Annie E. Casey Foundation in Plainfield, Vermont. Cornelius will be the Republican candidate for Governor in September/November 2002.

William Holekamp and his wife, Kerry, have four sons: Cliff (28), Eric (25), Brian (11), and Mark (9). William retired as Executive Vice President for Enterprise Rent A Car and is currently President of Holekamp Capital, a venture capital company. His interests include deep-sea fishing, long-range yachting, diving, golf, and tennis.

Philip Hoversten lives and works in Vail, Colorado, where he is President of PEH, Inc.

Carl Jaeger and his wife, Hilary, reside in Irvine, California. Carl is presently a budget analyst for Rancho Santiago Community College District in Santa Ana, California.

Craig Johnson is currently Group Vice President for Skanska in Las Vegas, Nevada.

William Johnson is currently Senior Vice President at Novant Health Management Corporation in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He resides in Jamestown, North Carolina.

After 20 years at The World Bank, Anil Kapur recently decided to retire. Anil and his wife, Martha, are planning to build a retirement home in the Poconos this summer. His eldest son, Alex, is a junior at Penn and is enjoying playing lacrosse for the University. Nicholas, his youngest son, is a senior at St. Albans in Washington, DC and is actively looking at Cornell and their crew program.

Steven Karpf lives and works in New York City. He is currently Managing Director for Fremont Realty Capital.

Rick Keenan is Managing Partner at Wylie Resources, Ltd. Rick and his wife, Katharine, reside in Wilmington, North Carolina.

For three years, Joseph Kielec had a great international career, working in 25 countries and living in Switzerland with his wife, Carolyn, three sons, Matthew, Peter, and Joseph, and daughter, Elizabeth. Joseph is currently involved with financial planning for individuals and small businesses.

Mark Klein is enjoying his retirement in beautiful Huntington Beach, California.

Jim Kornmehl is Managing Director at Projex Group Property, Ltd. in Matraville, Australia. Jim and his wife, Joanne, have four children: Rebecca (21), Gabriella (20), Marcus (17), and Sophie (11). About twice a week, Jim surfs before work at Bondi Beach and attempts to go scuba diving every second weekend, usually with as many of his children as will come along.

Jack Krichavsky lives and works in West Hartford, Connecticut, where he is President of Almada Corporation.

David Laube resides in Golden, Colorado and is Executive in Residence at the University of Colorado at Denver.

Rick Lewis had an interesting experience selling his company's financial services firm to The Hartford last year. He is currently Director of Sales for Jostens. Rick has been married to Deborah Wright Lewis, a Penn graduate, for 31 years. They have three children: Christopher (26), Jeffrey (19), and Paige (12). Rick is active in his community as a School Board member and a nationally licensed soccer coach. The family travels frequently throughout Europe, including the Czech Republic, visiting friends whose daughter, Marta, lives with them.

Nelson Lipshutz lives and works in Waban, Massachusetts, where he is President of REG research Corporation.

Bill Lough retired as Vice President and General Manager of Hay Management Consultants. He is enjoying retirement in Edina, Minnesota.

Scott MacBean lives and works in Rosemont, Pennsylvania, where he is a consultant at Rosemont Resource, Inc.

Thomas Markl and his wife, Cricket, reside in the lovely city of Seattle, Washington.

John Marr resides in Darien, Connecticut and is a Senior Vice President at Paine Webber, Inc. in Stamford.

George Mauro lives and works in Raleigh, North Carolina. After years in consulting and operations management, he is applying that experience to an LBO investment firm, Ferro Management Group.

Thomas McCloskey and his wife, Bonnie, reside in Aspen, Colorado, where he is Chairman of Cornerstone Holdings.

Alberto Mejia resides in New York City and is currently employed at GH Capital Managements.

Karl Mickelson is currently Director, MCS-Baltics at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He and his wife, Vija, reside in Atlanta, Georgia.

Ronald Miller resides in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and is a partner at Miller and Miller CPAs.

John Monticelloand his wife, Alice, reside in Storrs, Connecticut, where John is enjoying retirement.

James Morrill lives and works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he is Senior Vice President for Mellon Bank Corporation.

John Morse is Vice President of Finance for The Washington Post Company. He resides in McLean, Virginia.

Eugene Phipps resides in Charlotte, North Carolina and is Vice President at Phipps Realty Corporation.

John Potter is currently Chief Executive Officer for Dreyer Medical Clinic in Aurora, Illinois. Dreyer Medical became part of Advocate Health Care, which is the largest integrated health care system in Chicago.

David Pottruck is currently President and Co-CEO of Charles Schwab Corporation. In addition, he is on the Board of Directors of Intel and NASDAQ. He is also a Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania. David and his wife, Emily, have two grown children, one of whom is a Penn graduate (C'99). David and Emily reside in the beautiful city of San Francisco.

Jeffrey Price lives and works in Wycombe, Pennsylvania where he is a principal at IFC Enterprises.

Abraham Raab lives in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and has his own business, Abe Raab and Associates.

Peter Rasmussen is enjoying retirement, residing in Southampton, Pennsylvania.

James Richards is currently Vice President of Finance at Amerequip Corporation in New Holstein, Wisconsin. James resides in River Forest, Illinois.

Sandra Robinson is a contractor for Resources Connections in Atlanta, Georgia. Sandra now has two wonderful grandsons and an attentive and loving son. She obtains joy from helping others.

Daniel Rowan is Chief Financial Officer of Ocean Yacht, Inc. in Egg Harbor, New Jersey and resides in Wenonah, New Jersey.

Jack Ryder is National Accounts Manager at Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation. He resides in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. In addition, he serves as Trustee/Director on various boards. Jack is divorced and a member of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, he loves to travel.

Carl Sadler is President and CEO of Baldwin Sadler Corporation ($40+ million in revenue, 46 employees), a property/casualty insurance national underwriter of small fleet truckers. A new, 18,000 square foot building was recently completed on 4.8 acres in rural Royersford, Pennsylvania. The business is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Carl and his wife, Carol, reside in Wayne, Pennsylvania.

Peter Savitz lives and works in Atlanta, Georgia. He is married to Margo M. Savitz. They have three children. Peter is President of Sportime, LLC. In addition, he is on the Board of Trustees at The Epstein School, a fundraiser for the Atlanta Jewish Federation, and Post Board of Trustees of Temple Sinai.

Kenny Sawada lives and works in Tokyo, Japan, where he is Product Manager Coordinator for Sato Pharmaceutical Company, Ltd. Kenny and his wife, Atsuko, have a daughter, Haruko (18). Haruko is ambitious enough to study abroad and "hopefully at the University of Pennsylvania or Wharton Undergraduate School."

John Saweikis is the Director for the Pennsylvania Department of Mental Health in South Mountain, Pennsylvania. He resides in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Daniel Schwarzwalder is currently Managing Director for Buckingham Capital Management in New York City. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Retail Marketing Society and on the Advisory Board of Wells Fargo Retail Finance Corporation. Daniel and his wife, Susan, have three children: Michael, a senior at Northwestern University, Dana, a sophomore at Muhlenberg College, and Sara, a sophomore in high school. The family resides in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.

Stephen Sehnert resides in Englewood, California and is President of S.W.S. Services, LLC.

Tom Sharpe and his wife, Murem, reside in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Tom is President of Sharpe Management Company.

Peter Smedvig resides in London, England, where he is Chairman of Peter Smedvig Capital, Ltd.

Jeff Stack is currently Managing Director at Sares-Regis Group, responsible for all residential development, acquisitions, and property management. In addition, he is on the Board of Directors at Tejon Ranch Company (NYSE), National Multihousing Council (Vice-Chairman), and California Housing Council. Jeff and his wife, Nancy, have three children: Katie (27), Alexandra (12), and Natalie (10).

Joel Stender is President of J. Stender Investment Company in Chicago, Illinois. Joel also serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for We The People Forms and Service Centers USA. In addition, Joel has been a member of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange since 1987. Joel and Donna, his beautiful wife of 31 years and also a Wharton graduate, have four children: Zachary (23), Alexandra (21), Gabrielle (18), and Mackenzie (16).

Robert Stine is President and CEO for Tejon Ranch Company in Lebec, California. Robert resides in Bakersfield, California.

Richard Sylvan lives and works in Houston, Texas, where he is currently Senior Vice President at Compass Bank in Houston.

Luke Terry lives and works in London, England, where he is Managing Director for Credit Suisse First Boston. He is married to Belinda Walker Terry.

Since graduation, Ingvald Viken has held high to top management positions within the areas of shipping, wood processing, and energy production. Presently, he is involved in many boards in Christian organizations. The most time-consuming are his positions as Chairman of Prison Fellowship Norway and Chairman of the European Caucus of Prison Fellowship International. He is also a member of the Board of Prison Fellowship International. Ingvald and his wife, Eva, have three children and three grandchildren and live happily in Norway.

Arthur Von Der Linden is Executive Vice President for Wingate Financial Group, Inc. in Lexington, Massachusetts. Arthur resides in Westford, Massachusetts.

David Walton is currently Chief Executive Officer for Goodwill Industries. David and his wife, Millie, have two sons, David and Patrick. David writes and edits for Pi Yee Press in La Jolla, California. Patrick recently completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering at MIT. Patrick's wife, Debbie, also a graduate of MIT, is working for NASA in Mt. View, California.

James Weiss has been married to Kathleen for 31 years. They have four children: Elizabeth Tyndale (WG’2000), Ann Weiss Cortes, Jane Weiss, and William Weiss. Their son-in-law, Craig Tyndale, is a WG’2002. James is currently Chief Investment Officer for Equities and a member of the Management Committee and Board of Directors at State Street Research and Management in Concord, Massachusetts. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Trustees at The Fenn School. His professional designations are CFA, IC, member of the liberal arts college alumni board at Marquette University in Milwaukee. James has traveled to the Middle East, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Manila, and Europe.

John West lives and works in Salt Lake City, Utah. He and his wife, Dianne, have six children and six grandchildren. John is very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and its service activities and organizations. He is currently Managing Director and owner of Cottonwood Partners. He is active in government and public-private partnerships that are focused on natural resource conservation and community and economic development. He also serves on several boards of such organizations, having been appointed by the Governor of Utah. John loves to travel and enjoys learning about other cultures and world history. He has traveled extensively in Asia, Europe, Africa, and South America.

Hans Widmer resides in Winterthur, Switzerland, where he is Chief Financial Officer for Rieter Holding A.G.

Katherine Williams lives and works in Malden, Massachusetts, where she is Managing Partner at The Equity Company, Inc. Katherine has demonstrated leadership through service and is involved with LeadBoston, a leadership development and social justice not-for-profit in Boston. In addition, she is part of NCCJ. Katherine and her husband, Rick, enjoy sailing/racing all summer.

Kenneth Williams resides in Carmel, Indiana, where he is President of IPOA, LLC.
