RICHARD J. HERRING is Jacob Safra Professor of International Banking, Director of The Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management & International Studies and Co-Director of The Wharton Financial Institutions Center . He is currently Co-chair of the US Shadow Financial Regulatory Committee and of the Biennial Multinational Banking Seminar. Previously he served a 5-year term as Undergraduate Dean of the Wharton School . He serves on the editorial boards of several leading journals and is co-editor of The Brookings-Wharton Papers on Financial Services. Dr. Herring is the author of more than 80 books and articles dealing with international finance, international financial institutions and financial regulation.
