Born in São Paulo, Brazil , in 1945, graduated in Business from FGV (Fundação Getulio Vargas, Brazil). Extension courses in Stanford, USA; Insead, France; London Business School, England; IMD, Switzerland.

Doctor of Business Administration, Business School Lausanne, Switzerland.

Professional experience:

Confab Industrial S.A .: Vice-president in charge of Finance and Exports. During this time Confab had joint-ventures or licence agreements with CBI Industries, Nippon Steel, Sumitomo Corporation, among others. Was part of the Brazilian team negotiating steel export quotas to the U.S. with the U. S. Trade Representative in 1984-85. 1981-1987

RIO DE JANEIRO REFRESCOS S.A. (CocaCola franchise in Rio , one of the ten largest in the world at the time): Chairman and CEO. During this time was president of the Brazilian Soft Drink Association for four years (two terms). 1987-1994

CONFAB INDUSTRIAL S. A . : Chairman of the Board. 1994-1999

FAMILY BUSINESS NETWORK: Founder and Executive-Director of Brazilian Chapter

FAMILY FIRM INSTITUTE: founder and coordinator of Brazilian Study Group

Consultant of Family Business and Corporate Governance

Has lectured extensively on Corporate Governance, Family Business and Business History.

Is the author of three books on business:
