Julio de Quesada served as Chairman and CEO of Citibank in Mexico from March 1994 through November 2001. He played a key role in the purchase of Banamex and, after the merger of Citibank Mexico with Banamex in November 2001, he assumed new responsibilities as the Head of the combined Corporate and Investment Bank, as well as serving on the Boards of Banamex and the California Commerce Bank.
During his 26-year career at Citibank Mr. de Quesada has held numerous positions in New York , Central America , Greece , Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Mr. de Quesada is ex-President and active member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico . He is also a member of the Mexican Bankers Association and Coparmex (the Mexican Chamber of Commerce), Board member of Monterrey Tech's Latin American Graduate Program in International Management (MIMLA), Board member of the Washington Center (with specific focus on the NAFTA Internship Program); member of the Mexico City Historic Downtown Restoration Foundation of which Carlos Slim Helu is the Chairman, member and Treasurer of the Foundation for the National Institute of Public Health, member of the Honorary Board of the XX Century Mexican Art Exhibit Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Monterrey, A.C., Toyota Motors Mexico's Advisory Board, and McDonald's Fundación Infantil Ronald McDonald. Mr. de Quesada has been actively involved in the juvenile diabetes program at Mexico City 's Children's Hospital and is particularly proud of the Diversity Leadership Award he received in Oct. 2001 from the U.S. Business Women's Network and the Corporate Community Socially Responsible Award from the Mexican Philanthropy Institute received in March 2001.
Julio de Quesada was born in Cuba and is a naturalized U.S. Citizen. He holds and MBA in Finance from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in Engineering from Brown University .
