During the exchange period, which may be the Fall, the Spring, or the Summer of the second year, students earn four elective credits. Those students wishing to count exchange credits toward completion of requirements for a major must obtain departmental permission before the exchange program begins.

Exchange schools are located in Kensington, New South Wales, Australia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; London, England; Jouy-en-Josas, France; Milan, Italy; Yokohama, Japan; Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Manila, the Philippines; Barcelona, Spain; Stockholm, Sweden; and Bangkok, Thailand.
