Global Influence

An incomparable network engaged with business challenges worldwide.

Wharton's global engagement extends to every aspect of the international business environment. Everywhere in the world, Wharton alumni generate opportunity and value, influence world events, create policy, and change society. Our faculty consult with governments and corporations worldwide, while our students explore complex international issues, study languages and travel abroad, and become empowered global citizens.

An International Community

More than 37 % of the MBA class hails from outside the United States. Wharton undergraduates join a Penn community with the most international students of any Ivy League university and the most students studying abroad. On campus, this diversity leads to social exchange, cross-cultural connections, and a deeper understanding of how business issues affect different societies. Wharton's cultural scope is celebrated through the student-run Wharton Global Business Forum, more than 30 international and culture clubs, and countless student performances, exchanges, and events. Our alumni currently live in 148 countries on six continents, reconnecting through 80 alumni clubs, more than 40 of which are located outside the U.S.

Wharton's Lauder Program is the top program of its kind among business schools, combining a Wharton MBA with an MA in International Studies, while the Huntsman Program in International Studies & Business offers a fully integrated joint-degree option for undergraduates.

Approximately 100 MBA students per year take part in the Global Immersion Program, while others travel abroad for field application projects, International Volunteer Projects, the Global Consulting Practicum, Career Treks, and nearly 20 international exchange programs offered to students at all levels.

Alumni Everywhere

Wharton's powerful global network reaches everywhere our alumni go, which is everywhere in the world. Wharton's 88,000 alumni form an active global community that participates in 80 alumni clubs in 148 countries on six continents. Their strong network, built on lifelong professional and personal connections, is a key driver of Wharton's brand reputation around the world.

Wharton partners with its alumni clubs to hold annual Global Alumni Forums, most recently in Dubai, Bogota, and Beijing. Business, academic, and political leaders from around the world gather at these Forums to exchange ideas about the most pressing business issues of the day. In recent years, Wharton has strengthened this network by holding events across four continents and establishing new services for recent graduates, including an alumni portal called WhartonConnect, an alumni mentoring program, and a career networking resource.
